Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
1. Scope and Consent
This Privacy Policy describes how Finsynq collects, uses, processes, and shares your personal information. This policy is designed to comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
2. Information Collection
Personal Information:
Name, email, phone number, and mailing address.
Financial Information:
We use secure third-party connectors to access transaction history, account balances, and credit scores. Finsynq does not store your banking login credentials.
AI Features and Third-Party AI Providers:
Fynn, our AI assistant, is powered by a third-party artificial intelligence provider — currently Google (Gemini). When you use AI features (such as Fynn chat or AI-generated insights), the following data is sent to that provider to generate your response: the messages you type, and anonymized summaries of your financial data (transaction amounts, merchant names, and categories). Before this data leaves our servers, we remove personal identifiers: account numbers, login credentials, your name, and contact details are never shared, and transaction identifiers are replaced with anonymous codes.
AI features are off until you give explicit consent in the app, and you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → Security & Privacy. Our AI providers are contractually required to protect your data with the same or equivalent safeguards described in this policy, and we do not permit them to use your data to train their models. We may additionally use de-identified, aggregated chat logs to improve our own product experience.
3. Sign in with Google
You can create a Finsynq account or sign in using your Google account. This section explains what we receive from Google when you do, and how we handle it.
Information We Receive from Google:
With your permission, Google shares your name, email address, profile picture, and a unique Google account identifier with us. We only request these basic profile details. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, or any other Google service, and we never receive your Google password.
How We Use It:
- To create your Finsynq account and sign you in securely.
- To display your name and profile picture in the app.
- To send you account, security, and service emails at your Google email address.
We do not use information received from Google for advertising, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Sharing:
We do not sell, rent, or share information received from Google with third parties, except with the service providers that host our authentication and database systems on our behalf, or where required by law. Your Google profile details are not sent to our AI providers.
Storage and Deletion:
Your Google profile details are stored with your Finsynq account, encrypted in transit and at rest, for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and this information at any time from the app, at finsynq.ca/delete-account, or by emailing privacy@finsynq.ca. You can also remove Finsynq’s access at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/connections.
Limited Use:
Finsynq’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Purpose of Collection
We collect your data to:
- Provide personalized financial visualizations and budgeting tools.
- Power the Fynn AI chatbot to answer your specific financial queries.
- Send you administrative notices or security alerts.
- Comply with “Know Your Customer” (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations where applicable.
5. Data Sharing & Security
Third-Party Service Providers:
We share data with vendors who provide web hosting, data analysis, and payment processing. All partners are contractually obligated to maintain data confidentiality.
Encryption:
We use bank-level security, including 256-bit AES encryption and Transport Layer Security (TLS) for all data in transit and at rest.
No Sale of Data:
We do not sell your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Data Residency
While Finsynq is based in Calgary, some data may be processed or stored on cloud servers located outside of Alberta or Canada. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of information to countries outside of your country of residence.
7. Your Privacy Rights
You have the right to access, update, or delete your personal information. Residents of Alberta may also request information about how their personal information is being used and to whom it has been disclosed.
8. Contact Information
In accordance with PIPA, Finsynq has appointed a Privacy Officer to oversee compliance.
